Rarely does one find a place that is so completely un-plugged as Bull Hill Guest Ranch in Northport Washington. Nestled between Kettle Falls and Northport on the west shore of the Columbia river you will discover a ranch that has it’s roots in the settler’s times. Established in 1905 Bull Hill has been a working cattle ranch and the cornerstone of the local community. In 1995 the Guglielmino family made the decision to turn Bull Hill into a guest ranch and have never looked back. The ranch is somewhere around 50,000 acres of pristine rolling hills and valley meadows with trails winding throughout the land. On one border is Canada and the other is the Kettle Valley. From the top of the hill on a clear day you can see from the Rocky Mountains to The Cascade Range. The views are amazing but not nearly as amazing as the family that runs the ranch.
The Guglielmino family is still operating the ranch on a daily basis and will welcome you with open arms, a great breakfast and the reigns to one of over 80 horses they keep up on the hill. You arrive at the ranch as strangers and leave as family. On any given day you can partake in a massive, full spread breakfast then saddle up and ride the trails, enjoy a quiet morning on the private 20 acre lake or just sit back on the deck of one of the many well appointed cabins until lunch. How about a little skeet shooting or hiking after lunch? Why not? You will need to work up an appetite for the five star dinner you will be treated to. I only mention all the food because it is absolutely amazing. They have a full time chef who’s only duty is to keep the guests well fed and happy. The cook house is reminiscent of the days of old. Stocked with a full bar and seating for dozens of guests, it is the “gathering place” of the ranch with many a story being told by the guests and ranch hands alike.
The accommodations at Bull Hill Guest Ranch are second to none. Two of the cabins (and I say that with a slight smile) can accommodate six adults with their own rooms, a common area, private decks, laundry facilities and kitchens. Perfect for a family get-away. The smaller cabins are great for single families up to six. They are quaint and private each with their own deck and bathrooms. For the hardy and maybe a little more adventurous amongst you check out the tent cabins. Keep in mind that even though they are canvas tents they are not without a smattering of luxury. Queen pillow-top beds, carpeting and heating just to name a few!
The Ranch is an all inclusive destination vacation. All you need to bring are you clothes. EVERYTHING is included in the low vacation pricing. ALL entertainment, food, beverage and of course a wonderful place to lay your head after a long day on the trail. You will not find a more relaxing and invigorating vacation for your family. Take my word for it……you will be in for a treat!
